It's Friday the 13th YAY...did you also enjoy the movies? They were among my favourites, along with Nightmare on Elmstreet and Halloween. Which were your favourite slasher movies?

I was always wondering why the peeps in those movies acted in such a dumb way, running into an obvious dead end, literally!! If some psychopathic zombie were behind you, would you run upstairs to the attic? I would definitely try to get out of that house, into my car and there we go...

Next thing is that they are so noisy...trying to hide in a closet so the madman won't find 'em. Guys, maybe he can't see you, but he's not deaf either, so stop whining!!!

Never leave your weapons behind you, stab the bad guy and take your knife with you, why drop it and offer it to your murderer on a silver plate, because that's what he'll be for you in a couple minutes??

I was and still am complaining about that stupid behaviour but that's what we all love bout those films...a lil voyeurism and the good feeling of being smarter!

That being said I wish you a happy Friday 13th ;0)!!

Batiks all over the place

This is such a beautiful quilt, absolutely gorgeous colours, I love it. My customer wasn't so sure about how to quilt and just told me: Go ahead! Thank you Marie-Jeanne for your confidence again ;0)!!

Patched by customer & quilted by Leila

So I was standing there, looking at it and those awesome bright colours were calling for sun to shine even brighter. So I decided to add a sunny flower theme...what do you think? To me it matches well!! It's all done free-motion :0)!

Alles freihandgequiltet ausserdem!!

More of summer feeling :0), same procedure, different quilt

OMG this makes me think of spring and flowers...and we've just had the 1st snow, well, 1st real snow this winter :p!!

Von Kundin gepatcht und von mir maschinengequiltet

Back in summer

So, this was a huge order and fun to quilt as I was completely free in my choices. The ladies had so much confidence in me, they handed me their patchwork and told me to be creative lol. We agreed that the patterns of the fabrics were so bold (mainly Kaffe Fassett) that it would be better to quilt a little. And here's the result of quilt #1 which was quilted in every other row.

Sally's Elmo Quilt

I did this about 1 year ago when my girl was very fond of Elmo.

It's a simple quilt but I like the colours and the Sesame Street theme so much that I could do 100s of quilts like that :0).  I used this minkylike backing fabric which wasn't a very good idea. I have to say that I'm kinda nervous and working this fabric almost drove me nuts. I know there are people out there handling this without major problems...you all have my deepest respect ;0)!!!....but I don't!!! It's too bad because it's a very cozy and snugly but flannel is as well...just not so bitchy :p!! So, as you can already imagine: I didn't quilt it!! Sally didn't mind!!

Should blog more...

It's been a while...oh wow...time flies!! But I wasn't lazy, I did some sewing and quilting meanwhile.

My son asked for a quilt. Poor baby, he had to wait for so long to get one as mommy's always busy quilting and sewing for customers. I felt bad, I admit, so I was working on this Dinoquilt for a few days and voilà, here it is:

Patched and quilted by Leila

The circles and letters are all appliqués. I used cotton batting to appliqué those (in addition to the wool batting I used for quilting) to give it a nice 3D effect. Therefore I didn't do too much quilting, only some allover meandering. I used YLI's Great Barrier Reef thread which matches the colours of the fabrics just perfectly, all these gorgeous greens, yellows, blues and oranges.

This project was so much fun to sew and it's even better now that my little one insists on taking his quilt to bed each night...love it :0)!!

So exhausted...

There are days that could be skipped...today was one of those.

I wanted to finish a baby quilt, the only thing left to do was the binding and guess what...it's still not done. I finally gave up and decided to do it tomorrow. I dropped everything, the kids were yelling and shouting and so was I and now I'm just glad I finished the day without major incidents :p...The neighbour just knocked on my door to bring Flynn back home who had escaped and I didn't even notice...What's still to come? Hope we're done for today!

My first followers

Oh my gosh, I'm so excited about my first 2 followers!

Julia and Minette...so nice to meet you here :0)!!

We have summer holidays here with pretty much rain so far and when it's not raining we are heading out to soak up the little sun we get. No risk to get sunburnt at the moment.
On the other hand we have no lack or excess of water, no fires, no earthquakes or tsunamis either, so I think I shouldn't complain...but I always have to remember those catastrophes as I tend, like many others, to long for the things I don't have. But does that make me any happier?? Sure not, I prefer making the best of what I have and that's not bad at all right now: a loving family, good friends, a nice place to live...what more can we expect from life?

Perhaps making new friends here and sharing ideas of what we like doing so much ;0)!!

So, have fun and happy sewing...

The Diva is in a good mood

My Bernina 820 is finally quilting in a way that satisfies me. But OMG what a way to get there, we almost split up!!
But after her makeover at the doc's she's running smoothly now, quilting Zoé's baby blanket and Christelle's Batik dragonfly quilt IN A ROW...no problems, no bitching :-).
Guess the love story is about to begin...

Baby Blanket, machine pieced and quilted by me and myself :-)

Friend or foe...

Bernina 820 and I

It's something between hate and love, at the moment my feelings of hate are definitely stronger and I could kick her for being such a diva. There's always something about this machine, right now we are having tension problems again!!

Bernina's intentions when planning this machine were probably the best but to me she's not running as smoothly as she should for a baby in that price range. I spend more time fixing problems and trying different tensions, threads, needles in order to get a nice result than finally quilting - which was the motivation to buy her. As I'm always questioning me first, I thought it was my fault, that I was treating her bad and therefor she was grumbling and we were having quite an ambivalent relationship. But after a couple hours of internet research it seems like I'm not alone...there are more out there having trouble with this species. perhaps we should found a group like 820s Anonymous...would you be a member? Let me know!!

Hope you're having a nice day and I'll go and give the diva another try...never give up ;-)!!

Hi folks

Welcome to my brandnew blog, so excited to meet you all here.

I was hesitating about making a blog for so long...do I really have a lot of interesting things to tell, will anyone be willing to read what I have to say? Yeah, I know, a little more selfconfidence you will suggest and you know what...you're right :-)!! Let's just do it, there are so many blogs in the net and everyone's free to subscribe or not.
So...if you think it might be worth trying come visit me.

I'm not so sure yet what will be the content of this blog...probably a big part will consist of patchwork and quilting, funny kids' stuff, my point of view on different things, cooking, books, TV, travelling,....just don't wanna be too restrictive in the choice of my topics here. Variety makes life interesting, doesn't it ;-)??
